This year, there were two awards given out by Washington Gas for The 2022 Largest Single Custom Business Solution as part of the Maryland C&I Service Provider Award program. Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Maryland, in partnership with InSite, a building intelligence company, was one of the recipients for its successful Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) execution. The project included building systems monitoring and analytics services by InSite’s building professionals leading to an ECM implementation by the joint Adventist HealthCare and InSite team resulting in a total savings of 18,895 therms.
In May 2021, InSite identified a discharge air temperature reset opportunity at Shady Grove to change the setpoints from a year-round 55F, to 60F in milder conditions based on the outside air dry-bulb temperature. InSite then confirmed the opportunity with Adventist HealthCare’s leadership team before submitting service requests to ESI and the Adventist HealthCare Facilities Team for the 8 AHUs, which were implemented quickly and efficiently.
The total annualized gas savings (18,895 therms) are equivalent to 101 metric tons of CO2 avoided, or the CO2 emissions from 13 homes. This ECM reduced annual operational expenses by $39,076 and helped secure a rebate from Washington Gas for $43,324.
